Official tourism websites for the area:

The most famous destinations in the area are the Monte Argentario Peninsula (Porto Santo Stefano), Giglio island, Mount Amiata, the towns of Capalbio, Pitigliano, Manciano, Castel del Piano, Scansano, Sorano, Saturnia (Thermal Spa), Castiglion della Pescaia, Massa Marittima, and overall the entire region, which is very rural and devoted to ranching and farming.
In September the weather should be warm to hot. However along the coast and at Giglio Island it will be nice and cool at night. It will be cooler also at higher elevations (such as Mount Amiata), especially at night.
