What Does This Mean?

The last leg of our trip on Corsair Airlines on June 24th from Paris to Miami was recently cancelled. I only know this because I have been checking the website frequently. I received no notification from the airline. This ticket reservation was made through Expedia, but the extra baggage charge was made through the airline. I contacted Expedia about a refund and was told the airline is directing them to only offer a voucher. I was under the impression since this flight arrives in Miami, it would be governed by US law. The US DOT website specifically states the we are entitled to a refund within 7 days. Expedia did not disagree, but is following the airline policy rather than US law. I went to the Corsair website and started looking for a refund option. In our information I found this: "By selecting several passengers, you acknowledge that you have chosen and accepted the principle of receiving global compensation. Otherwise, we invite you to make one claim per passenger."

What does " the principle of receiving global compensation" mean? I want to make sure I am not forfeiting my right to a refund.

"the principle of receiving global compensation" sounds like it means that you've agreed to have the cancellation process done as a group rather than passenger by passenger. But I'd look for more info to make sure that you would not be giving up the right to a refund. I don't know how many people are involved, but to be safe you could always seek a refund person by person.

Don't take the voucher - you are legally entitled to a refund if the airline cancelled. We just finalized a successful credit card chargeback against TAP Air Portugal who was trying the same obfuscation. Start documenting. Get a screen shot of the cancellation and a screen shot showing only a voucher being offered. Any scheduled plane flying to/from/in the US with greater than 30 seats is covered by DOT. Your refund comes from the airline and Expedia will play games to get their commission. I'd start a credit card dispute and file a complaint with DOT. I have already started a dispute with my credit card and filed a claim with the US DOT. So far Corsair has not replied to my emails. I have a copy of the chat with Expedia where they denied giving me a refund. I have a screen shot from the Corsair website where it states "Please note that the Airline has cancelled one or more of your selected flights. Please modify your reservation, or contact your travel agent for further information (9115)".

All our flight information on their website is gone and only our personal info remains. Their website seems to be severely restricted as to what you can do and contains nothing about a refund or voucher.
