What do you think is the best time to travel in Italy from Venice to Amalfi

I am planning a trip to Italy for next year for 28 days. My question is for all the Italy travellers out there. What is your favorite time of year to travel in Italy!

Late May/Early June or late September/early October. Have done both. Weather is usually mild. Some rain in the early months but it sure beats the heat in July and August.

April or October- far fewer tourists, but the weather is a little iffy.

Depends on where you are going - but generally April/May or September/October. The south will always be warmer and usually more humid than the north.

April for the blood orange juice, especially south of Naples. April and March for the lemons south of Naples. February for the lemons on the French border. Never been disappointed any time of the year in Venice. Anytime except May to September for Florence (heat - you don't need to experience the oven effect of the bowl that Firenze is in).

We like Italy in May. The days are longer and the flowers are in bloom. The drawback is that May is outside the standard opera season. Also, you tend to get a little more rain in May than in June.

anytime you can go is good but of course avoiding the busy hot summer months is preferable
