Planning to go dolomites around 20-22 October but saw online that many lifts and restaurants etc will be closed. Is it still a good idea to go there?

No. It is shoulder season and the locals like to take their vacations then before the winter rush begins.
We were around St. Moritz about that time a few years ago and the area was dead. Would not do it again.
