What bus stop in Assis?

We will be staying on via giorgetti in Assisi and would like to know the best bus stop to use for both arrival and later departure to the train station?

dgrieco,

I recall answering your question previously on this post 😉

Check the link to Google maps (street view) that I provided on that thread so you can see where you’ll get off.

I’d suggest writing, “Piazza Unità d'Italia”, on a piece of paper, and ask the bus driver to notify you when you arrive to said stop.

It’s the bus stop closest to St. Francis’ Basilica, if you’re planning to take bus Line C to/from the train station.

Wishing you a wonderful trip!

According to Google maps, Piazza Unita d'Italia would be your stop for the bus to/from the station.

Looks as if piazza Giovanni Paola may be the closest stop. What bus stops at this location?
Priscilla, thanks for the follow up and the link. Tried to find this yesterday, but did no see it.

Looking at a map of Assisi, we do not see your suggested piazza. Will try google maps.

And as I mentioned in my reply to your earlier request, Assisi is a very steep hilly town of many super narrow streets. I spent two weeks there a few years ago and love it. Here's a link to the street you're staying on: https://goo.gl/maps/5SAYwtdWu4snQg9bA

Do you really want to haul your bags from a bus stop to there?

My advice to you: Pay the 15 euros for a taxi from the train station to the door of your lodging. This is especially true since you'll have luggage. Then come back here and thank me for suggesting this. (^_^)

I agree with Michael, and also suggest taking a taxi to your accommodation, especially if arriving with luggage.

When I visited Assisi, I took the bus to Piazza Matteotti (last stop at the highest point of the city) but my hotel was downhill from the piazza, and the hotel owner met me and helped me with my wheeled carry-on.

When I left Assisi, I walked up to the piazza to take the bus. The 5 minute walk uphill (on cobblestone) felt much longer when I was lugging my 21” carry-on.

Enjoy your trip!
