Hi, looking for a good place to stay in Florence, and I have RS book. What I need to know is what's the best AREA to stay in Florence. It will make it much easier to scale down the hotels, (there are so many) if I know the best area to stay. Thanks!
We rented an apartment on Via del Corso near the Duomo and it was a perfect location. And it was close to Piazza Repubblica as well. Florence is a great "walkable" city, so my choice would be a place that is central like this.
Thanks! Did you like the appartment, and will they rent for 3 days?
Yes, we loved the apartment. I found it on VRBO.com. We had our own key, and just went in like a local. And there was a cafe across the street where we got to know the owners. And a grocery store a block away. It was a LOT of back and forth with owners on email finding availability for a short stay so you have to do a fair amount of work if you are doing this last minute, but stick it out and you will be happy.
Any place in the centro storico (within city walls) works. Draw a circle of 1 mile in radius from Piazza signoria, and u are in. Oltrarno (South of river Arno) tends to be' quieter and cheaper.
I rented an apartment in the Piazza dela Signoria. I think it was ideal for walking everywhere possible. Found it on VRBO too.
Leaving Monday for Italy. Rented an apt. in Florence through www.halldis.com close to Piazza Signoria. Previously rented apt. in Oltrarno neighborhood through vrbo.com and loved this location. For this trip have also rented apts. in Venice and Rome.
