What a brilliant help this forum is!

We flew from Seattle to Milan via Newark two days ago. By following United’s pre-travel guidelines and relying heavily on THIS FORUM (what a great resource and community of fellow travelers!) we had all our documents in order and had no problems. We were amazed to hear and watch one confused group of travelers complaining that they had “never heard of this dPLF! “ Of course, they muddled through, but we were happy to avoid last minute hassles with forms and unexpected requirements. We are relaxing in Milan now for a few days and then will be in smaller towns for three weeks. We are happy to show our CDC Vaccine card and passport everywhere. If only we had this simple requirement in the US, we could move on to defeat those high Covid numbers!

Your posting is also a brilliant contribution to this Forum - thank you for the Milan update. Are you being asked to also show your passport every time you present your CDC vaccination card? We’ll be in Italy in a week and a half. Still working on completing the Verifly app with our completed dPLF data. Enjoy Italy!

This forum constantly leaves me impressed. If from nothing else, I continue to pick up golden nuggets here even if it's just reading other people's opinions about anything travel related.

I was confused by what a dPLF was until I googled it and then of course I knew it was a digital passenger locator form because I'd first read about it here. However, I should also thank the clueless tourists who don't read this forum, as they sometimes make me feel far more knowledgeable than I probably am while I'm travelling ;).

Thanks - it's also a lot of fun! It helps all of us on so many levels: remembering great experiences, planning for new ones, sharing joyful times, alerting others to issues (pro and con). Now, back to my planning!

Cyn: we have had to show our cards when dining indoors (it’s all about the air conditioning sometimes!), but not when eating outside. We are using the dual passport/card holder that I read about here on RICK’S ITALY FORUM. It helps make this easy.
Every shopkeeper and waiter is wearing a surgical mask. And everyone who is inside is wearing a surgical mask. No cloth masks. The Italians we have talked with have been uniformly positive about the measures here: masks and green cards and, of course, the vaccine. Covid feels much more in the rearview mirror here than in the states. This is a great time to be here. All of the wait has been worth it. You’ll have a great time!

Absolutely. I don't plan a trip to Europe without reading through these forums first.

Thank you for clarifying, gpgalvani. So they’re good with the CDC card, and not double checking a passport or other I.D. to f f iu rm the po erwin holding the card is the same person named on the card. I have a plastic card holder for just the card, but will have it accessible on a lanyard around my neck. Passport safe and sound on moneybelt.

That’s great to hear your sense about the Pandemic being more in the rear view mirror there, than here in the USA. I figured that was the case - not completely finished with the virus, but going the right direction. Parts of the USA seem to not only not have it in the rear view mirror, but in front of the vehicle, and that vehicle’s heading fir a cliff. Please leave some gelato for us. 😋

Thank you for the encouraging picture, bpgalvani.

And enjoy Milan - we loved our visit there, and hope to return some day.
