In May, I'll be flying into Rome and leaving 14 days later from Rome. I'm visiting my brother who lives there.
I have already been to Rome, Venice, and Florence before (followed the Rick Steves guide), so I would be OK with entirely skipping Venice and Florence. I would skip most sights in Rome (Vatican, museums etc. as I've been). Mostly looking forward to the food going back, will probably do a food tour.
My brother works but is free from Thursday to Monday mornings (long weekends, essentially). We were hoping to use those 2 weekend trips to go to Switzerland and then South Italy.
This is what I had planned:
May 7-8: Arriving noon on the 7th. Staying in Rome these nights.
May 9-12: Switzerland. Not sure where exactly. Hoping to do some hiking/sightseeing, maybe Lucerne, Zermatt, not sure. Never been. Somewhat concerned about the weather (not sure if I should pack with snow in mind or if hiking is still possible).
May 13-15: Head back to Rome early Monday morning (the 13th) and stay.
May 16-18: Staying in Southern Italy. Honestly not sure where I want to see, I was just thinking Naples and Pompeii at a minimum but I don't really know still.
May 19: Back in Rome for the night, leaving the next morning (May 20th).
Any suggestions for this itinerary? Anything is appreciated!
