Weekend Beach Trip

Hi all!

I'm spending a semester (August-December) in northern Italy and I'd like to organize a short trip to southern Italy in September. I'm thinking more along the lines of nice beaches and lots of relaxation--I'll have time later in the semester to see historical sites and the like. Positano looks amazing, but all the places to stay I could find are too expensive for a college student's budget. I've also looked at Portofino, Aci Trezza, Camogli, Cefalu, and a few other places, but I'm not really sure which ones are the best for me.

So, any recommendations for a weekend beach getaway in Southern Italy on a budget? Towns + hotel recommendations very much appreciated. Thanks!

Cefalu is picturesque but it's all the way down in Sicily. I'd look for other options, preferably ones that can be reached by a not-too-long train ride.

Those look great. Any recommendations for accommodations? I'm looking at Residenza I Gioielli in Tropea (it's on the high end of my budget, but still within range and it looks great), but I'd love to have a range to look at and the listings I've seen are a little bare haha.

Try Sperlonga, right outside of Rome but a world removed. Very inexpensive and a nice beach.
