Week long cooking class or Agriturismo in northern Italy

My sister and I are planning a Rick Steves trip to the Italian Villages in the fall. We'd like to add on an additional week for either a cooking school experience or an Agriturismo stay. Since we'll be mainly in the northern part of Italy we'd like to be able to get to or from Padua or Lago d'Orta to a destination with as much ease as possible. Plus, we don't want to spend a fortune (under $2K per person) for this additional experience. What are your suggestions? Thanks
