We are looking to rent an apartment for a 4 night stay in Rome, a 3 night stay in Florence and a 3 night stay in Venice. Traveling in May 2015. I'm looking at both VRBO and AirBNB. Does anyone have any other good rental websites they've used in Italy? Thanks.
We booked our rental in Tuscany with Interchalet. Very large selection with excellent search functions on the website.
Cross-Pollinate.com can help you in all three locations. Locally owned Rome business, run by an American couple.
Have had good luck w/all of these.

Have a great trip
Much more important than the website, is the individual apartment listing and the reviews. I look for lots of recent reviews, esp. if they include a comment that would not likely appear in a fake review, such as "even though the neighborhood is noisy, we still enjoyed it."
In addition to the sites already listed above, there are the following:
http://www.case-vacanza-italia.it/en/
http://www.waytostay.com/rome-apartments/
http://www.romeloft.com/
https://www.roomorama.com/
http://italy.worldwide-accom.com/italy/
http://www.flipkey.com/
http://www.holiday-velvet.com/
https://www.dwellable.com/
If you don't mind websites in Italian, you can try these:

http://www.homelidays.it/
http://www.homeaway.it/
http://www.subito.it/
http://www.housetrip.it/
You'll also find that most apartments for rent are listed on multiple sites, so if you want to see more reviews of a particular apartment, search for those by running a double-quote search on an unusual sentence from the apartment description, such as "it is in a quiet and tranquil position" or "The bedroom has a double bed and a spacious wardrobe".
Happy hunting.
Rick also recommends Cross-Pollinate, for those cities it covers.
Does anyone have any experience with AirBnB? Looking at booking an apartment through them for 3 nights in Florence.
