Does anyone know of a good, safe, and free website for hearing correct pronunciations of Italian. Every time I try to download one, I get a warning from McAfee that site may do damage to my computer. Thanks
If you go to www.wordreference.com it is a dictionary web site. There is a little button to click near the word that will give you the pronunciation. I also like www.busuu.com In the interactive lesson section, it gives you the pronunciation of the words in the lesson. Have you tried ipod downloads, such as survivalphrases.com and Let's Speak Italian (available in itunes)
Bill, you might try your local Library to see if they have Pimsleur (or other) Italian language courses available for loan. That will provide you with the correct pronunciation of words and phrases. You might also check to see if there's an Italian language TV station in your area. I routinely watch Italian news broadcasts and other programs (available on cable here) and find that's an excellent way to hear the pronunciation and cadence of the language. Cheers!
Thanks for that info, Lori. Thanks Ken. I found a great site on my library website, called Mango. I understand it is a little like rosetta Stone
My husband and I like this website. It helps if you type a couple of slashes or other marks before you type the words to be translated (it helps the first sounds to delay a bit) http://www.cyberitalian.com/en/html/pronuncia.html?lesson=1
Great site Jeanine. Exactly what I was looking for, Many thanks!
Lori, just found the "little speaker" symbol you were talking about. Also a great site. Thanks
