Weather in Siena in late July

I am in Italy from July 23 till August 1st. I planned on Milan, Lake Como, Siena, Sorrento. Now I am having second thoughts on my schedule because I am worried it will be too hot. I am toying with heading up to Switzerland instead. Can anyone tell me about the heat this time of year. I have traveled to Italy in June but not late July. Any suggestions are appreciated.

All the locations mentioned will likely be very hot at the end of July. That's statistically the hottest time of the year. Temperatures are a bit cooler at higher elevations (but you don't seem to be heading there) and in the evening near the coast (Sorrento) thanks to the sea breeze. But on average, you should expect daily temperatures in the 30 to 40 Celsius (90s-100s F) with little relief in the evening if you are in the interior. Lake Como might be a bit better. It's not high in elevation, but large bodies of water have a cooling effect and high mountains are nearby if you want to climb to better temperatures.
