Weather in Rome, Italy - Early November

I am traveling to Rome on November 3rd. Does anyone have an recommendations on the weather and what type of clothing to bring? Also, as anyone stayed at Hotel Italia in Rome? It seems to get very good review. Thanks, Katherine

We were there in late September and it was still very warm, but November should be perfect, probably a lot like San Jose in the late summer. Light weight clothing with a light sweater and jacket should suffice. Don't jump into the pool then, however, even if you see people swimming laps. I did in September and nearly froze....58 degrees. Seems the lappers were from Sweden. Duh!!

It could be warm or it could be damp and rainy, the weather varies in Rome. Generally speaking it will be pleasant, I would suggest many light layers that you can take off. People in Rome will be wearing coats and jackets, because to them it will feel cool, and because the calendar says November, which means wear a jacket.

Just to second Claire's comments...our last trip to Rome was the first week of November...you will probably get some rain...(our hotel furnished us with umbrellas)...it was cool (not cold)...we ate outside almost everynight...and we did the evening walk along via del corso, to the trevi fountain, finishing up at the spanish steps wearing either a light sweater or a windbreaker...

I am making my 3rd trip to Rome this year and have only been in November. It's cool, less crowded and cheaper. I take an all-weather coat with a zip out lining, long sleeve shirts and a sweater. Usually I wear the coat without the lining but sometimes go with just a sweater. I just booked Hotel Italia again. Very nice hotel, 24 hour desk, very friendly staff. It's within easy walking distance of the Coliseum and Forum but has both a taxi stand and bus stop right across Via Nazionale. Another plus is the little bakery across from the hotel entrance! Hope you have a great time!

I, too, am staying at the Hotel Italia. I thought that it was close to many sights and am very excited. Thanks for the tips.
