I'm thinking about a short trip to Italy right in early January, but I HATE ice and snow (and can't walk on it).
--Definitely would go to a small town near Foggia (So. Italy, just above the boot)
--Considering Florence
--Considering Rome
Can anyone give me an idea of typical weather and if ice is likely to be present in Florence or Rome?
Thanks!
We don't really get ice and snow in Rome... I say that and now we'll probably have a blizzard.
Temperatures in January usually are in the low 40's to low 50's. If we any weather issues, it can be cold AND rainy, but ice and snow is a rarity! We did have a few days in the high 20's/low 30's last year but the skies were clear. Here you just bundle up in layers and peel off as the day goes on... then when the sun sets, you start adding back!!!!
Ciao,
Ron
I lived in northern Italy, near Venice, for several years and we never had snow. Had an overnight ice storm once - actually rain that covered everthing and then froze. By noon it all melted but it was really beautiful while it lasted. Rain, maybe, in Florence and Rome, but no ice.
