We are thinking of traveling to Italy (Venice, Florence, Rome) in mid February and we are wondering what the weather is like there.
Here are the average monthly temperatures and average rainfall for those three cities: http://www.worldweatheronline.com/Venice-weather-averages/Veneto/IT.aspx http://www.worldweatheronline.com/Rome-weather-averages/Lazio/IT.aspx

It will be cold.
But if you live in D.C. it will seem like spring to you.
Looks like they live in the other Washington, Roberto. Actually Italy is not unlike the Pacific NW, but drier in the winter and hotter in the summer. Winters are mild. Layers are important; We like merino wool or polartec fleece, and a good raincoat with jeans and Gortex shoes for our winter outings throughout the country. We have been to Venice twice in December and prefer it at that time of year to a recent September trip when it was too crowded. We can have 80+ degree days in Rome, with sun, in February, which makes for a lovely shirt-sleeves sort of day! Edit 10/17 - just noticed I said "80+ degrees" and I meant 60+!! FYI, former Portlander myself... As noted, gloves, hat, scarf are all in order.
Actually, we think of DC as the other Washington. :-) That said, Italy in February will certainly be more pleasant than Chelan in February. (For those of you who don't live in the upper left-hand corner of the country, Chelan is in the center of the state, on the east side of the Cascades, and has weather that's more like Montana than those of us "wet-siders" in and around mild-weathered Seattle.)
We have visited Venice a few times in the winter months, last time was end Feb/begining March. On each occasion it was the eyewateringly cold wind (over from Eastern Europe) that was the major factor. During the day and in a sunny sheltered spot it was very pleasant otherwise hat, scarf and gloves were the order of the day. And don't be surprised if it snows.
Lori: We went to Venice once in Winter and about froze. The tides were high and there were wooden walkways all over St. Marks Square. Last Winter, Italy had a terrible snow storm late in the season.
The Spring Airfares start on 3/28/2014, and it's cheaper if you go a day or two before then. And April has much milder weather.
