We're curious as to whether the weather is cold in April in Italy. We're trying to work around childrens' school schedules, airfare pricing, etc, however worry that it will be "chilly" in April vs. going in May/June. Any experiences? Thanks!
It could be chilly -- might be very warm. It gets warmer towards May and June. Probably will be rainy also. And, of course, just where in Italy do you plan to be. Northern Italy will be colder than southern Italy unless, of course, southern Italy has a cold wave and then Northern Italy could be really cold. What is NC like in April??
Hi Matt
We were in Italy this past April (17 - 27) and experienced the following weather:
Rome: warm (probably about mid 60s), mixed sun and clouds, heavy rain one day and thunder.
Cinque Terra: Sunny and hot (mid to upper 70s)
Florence: hot with some rain and thunder one afternoon.
Venice: rain and cool
So as you can see, it was a real mix, but what I would consider typical spring weather for us.
Hi Matt - To answer your question The average temperature throughout Italy in April is 50-65 degrees with an average of 6 days per month being rainy.
So, please don't let Negativity stop you from going and having a GREAT time. I've been there in April about 15 times - Beautiful!!
Ciao, Greg
