it's been suggested to us that october is the best month to visit tuscany. is this true?
October is delightful. Warm in the middle of the day but not hot and I don't recall humidity being an issue in October. (When it's humid my hair advertises it to the world:) Delightful mornings and evenings. Occasional rain. Biting insects occasionally a problem (easily banished with insect repellant). Terrific Fall foods including, hip hip hooray, truffles and all sorts of other goodies. Nights can be quite cold (that being said I live in San Diego).
October is one of our favorite months to travel in Italy (the other being May) and we will be going again on October 2 for three weeks. We find it to be good weather with an occasional drizzle of rain, but generally just delightful.
You may find morning fog an issue.
