We will be in Italy mid Sept. I'm wondering how cool/warm it will be so I can pack accordingly. We are new to Euro travel.
Cathy,
I've been in the Cinque Terre in mid-September and the weather is usually quite nice (although cool in the evenings). Of course with the weather, there are never any guarantees. I'd suggest using the "layering" approach, and pack along some light rain gear as well.
As you're "new to Euro travel", I'd highly recommend pre-reading the Guidebook Europe Through The Back Door before you go. It will provide you with lots of information on "how" to travel well in Europe. Read the "Rail Skills" section carefully! You may want to pack the Italy Guidebook along, as I find that it's always a good source of reference during a trip, especially if my plans change.
Happy travels!
I was just there and even now in the summer time, it got cool at night. The wind off the water had people wearing hoodies and sweaters.
thanks to all for the information, much appreciated.
Hi Cathy. We were there mid-September last year & unfortunately it rained 2 out of the 3 days we were there. It wasn't particularly cold but it did rain A LOT!! On the day that it didn't rain, the weather was fairly warm (probably low to mid 80's) & humid during the day. Nights were pleasant but I'm always cold so I always took a sweater with me at night. Definitely dress in layers & take light-weight rain gear just in case it rains.
