After seeing Italy sweltering under 98 to 100+ F for days on end during the summer, the temps now ( I'm a little south of Florence) have been very cool for this time of the year. Highs around 74 for the last ten days so far. A remarkable change.
Not sure that's all that unusual. September is notoriously a month of transition with unsettled and changing weather patterns almost anywhere. Sometimes you don't know what to expect from one day to the next. Here where I live in Oregon the summer, even through the month of August and into September was unusually hot - many days hit 100°F and over. For the last few days it's been highs in the 60's and low 70's and last night it dipped to 41°, with today's high expected to be just 62°.
And in fact Northern Italy's (north of Rome) weather is very similar to Oregon's (although not as much rain as the Portland area and the Coastal area of Oregon)
For us, too, Jim. We were in Ortisei a few days ago and had to buy fleeces! Much colder than Oregon right now, although Oregon finally got rain. We are in Venezia and thanks to the weather gods, it is mild and sunny for a few days!
