Planning a trip to Europe around Christmas. Will be in Rome the week before Christmas, anything to be aware of as far as closings. Also what is weather like there that time of year, cold?

I was in Rome for Xmas holidays 2008. It was rainy and low 50's which I thought was great. However, I live in MN where it can be below zero and snowing at that time of year. I don't recall anything being closed except Xmas day (no metro that day)and early closings on 24th-similar to US.
