weather and places to stay in Florence, Cinque Terre, amalfi coast

Hello,
I am going to italy for my honeymoon for 10 days at the end of july (27th) and beginning of August 2015. I know it will be hot but how bad is the humidity? Also we would like to stay in nice and clean places but would love more authentic italian places, hopefully a little inn or bed and breakfast that not everyone knows about. We are planning on going to florence, cinque terre and amalfi coast. We are also thinking of renting a car just outside of florence so we can drive through tuscany and do a cooking class/ wine tour, and driving to lucca and conquer terre, but does it make more sense to just take the train to the coast? Any tips or recommendations are greatly appreciated! thank you!!!

In ten days I would limit myself to two places. All of your choices will be crowded. You would have plenty of opportunities for day trips with one base in Tuscany and another in Cinque Terre. If you want to stay in Florence, perhaps staying in the Oltrarno area would be nice.

Zoe, as usual is correct! 10 days is not enough time for three locations. Unless you're into hiking, I'd go to Amalfi and skip Cinque Terre.

There are many day trips offered from Florence, where you'd be taken to a Vineyard in Tuscany and enjoy the scenery with someone else driving, and sip as much wine as you like! From Florence you can also day-trip to Siena (via very convenient bus), which can easily be "seen" in a day, while Florence will take more time and offer more sites.

My vote, stay in Florence, day-trip to a winery, another day-trip to Siena, enjoy the other days in Florence, then to the Amalfi Coast. Actually, if it were me, I'd stay in Sorrento, just North of Amalfi, again, because transportation is easy to get to other sites.

My family and I just returned from Italy last week. After Paris, we spent 4 days in Amalfi and 3 in Rome. I would definitely allow yourself plenty of time to just enjoy the food, the wine, the people, and keep the traveling to a minimum.

We stayed in the town of Amalfi--and it was wonderful. The best part of our trip! We stayed at a B&B right on the Piazza in town. Residenzia Luce. I was amazing -- and the owner and manager were so incredible. Anything you might need, they are right there to help you with. And the location was perfect. Easy access to ferries, beach, many great restaurants.

Enjoy!

Seaside places may be hot but not in an unbearable way. Inland places like Florence are very hot and humid in July and August; do not plan to do many things in the hotter hours in the middle of the day.
