We need to stay in a place where we can park a car in Rome

We will be saddled with a car in Rome. We would need to stay somewhere where we can inexpensively park our car during our five days there while we use public transportation to get around the busy city. Any suggestions? AliceMarie

Crown Plaza Hotel Rome-St. Peter's (shuttle but free parking). I stayed & parked here many years ago. OR
Express By Holiday Inn ROME-SAN GIOVANNI (near trains but parking 12 euros/day). Both part of Holiday Inn chain. Web is ICHOTELS.com

As everyone has said you really don't want to drive IN Rome.

We stayed at a small hotel with a courtyard in a suburb of Rome. Now closed. Do some research to look for a facility which lists "off street parking".

I have seen several on webpages in the past. They are available, but hard to find.

It will take you several hours to find one, but I have found that it is worth the effort. Although we didn't pay, be prepared to pay for the parking.

We rode the bus into the city center and I can recommend it to you.

We stayed at Hotel Spring House--Best Western on one trip to Rome. we also were saddled with a car that time. They have underground parking. My husband scraped the car trying to get out of the garage.I do not remember the cost. It was a quick walk to the Vatican. In the opposite direction was a Metro stop approximately 10 minutes away.We had a quad room as we have 2 kids. the room was very small but very clean with comfortable beds. The street was a little noisy in early am with street cleaners, delivery people, trash trucks etc. Breakfast was very basic. Hope this helps

Dump the car for the 5 days you will be in Rome if it will be cost effective, factor in the expense of parking. There are garages near Termini Station. Be very careful driving in the city center. Your car will not have a permit to allow you to drive in this area & if you look at the forum you will see that the ticket will follow you home.

If you are driving from the north drop the car in Orvieto and train into Rome then rerent when you leave. There is also a parking lot where you could leave the car although I have never done this.Driving in Rome is Ok if you arrive at 6AM and leave at 5AM.Otherwise dont do it.

I would do everything possible to find a way not to have a car in Rome. Park outside the city if necessary and ride the train into Rome.
