We have time to kill at Marco Polo airport. Ideas?

My hubby and I will get i to MP airport about 2 1/2 hours before our travel buddies. We want to wait for them and go into Venice together. I have the RS Venice book but nothing in it about things to do around the airport (probably cause there’s not much to do 😂).

Maybe there isn’t really anything and that’s fine, we are patient people. But if there IS a place to eat lunch or a good place to hang out, that would be nice, too.

I would not hang around an airport for two and half hours, especially when going to Venice. Can’t they get there by themselves?

Yes, I’m sure they can. But we can’t get into our Airbnb til 4pm and we were thinking we could all take the RS Grand Canal tour from the train station through the city. (They get in at 2:15pm)

By the time we get done we will be able to check in. Then we could go out to dinner and walk our neighborhood in the evening.

We are open to heading into Venice alone. That option would give us time to grocery shop before check in. We’re pretty easy

We spent a very long day at Marco Polo in 2018 when we didn’t find out until we arrived at the airport that our flight home was cancelled and we had about 4 hours until the flight they rebooked us on. I don’t think there’s much at all you can do at the airport (it’s a relatively small airport) other than enjoy an overpriced airport meal.

That’s the info I was looking for!! Thank you.

I think hubby and I will take the Grand Canal tour on our own and spend our time that way. We should meet up with them bout the same time by the end of the tour.

Also a good plan. We get in about 11:30 so heading over and having lunch while we wait is a sound idea.
Thank you!!

If you go to Santa Lucia station, you will have to walk over the long Ponte della Constituzione with your luggage. A reasonable compromise would be take the bus to Piazzale Roma and have lunch in one of a couple of restaurants on the square waiting for your friends to arrive on the bus.
