We Are Staying In Siena (With Rental Car) For Three Nights . . .

. . . .I'd like to take the family to visit a vineyard ( with some wine tasting) without driving more than a hour. A little drive through some scenic Tuscan countryside would be fine, but not several hours. I've seen some information on sites stating I can visit a vineyard and taste for 10 - 20 Euros.

I've written(emailed) to two wineries to reserve time and they don't write back, and time is drawing close. Can anyone recommend a vineyard relatively near Siena that will allow me to reserve space for my family of five March 19 or March 20 that's in this price range?

All I see on internet sites are they "Immersion experiences" of 150 - 200 Euros apiece.

I'm thinking more of the Napa Valley/Sonoma tours you can do by driving up, catching the next tour and paying $30 or so per person.

Thanks in advance!

Greg

Do be aware the DUI limit in Italy is 0.05%. Typical in the US is 0.08%-0.10%

We went wine tasting in Tuscany this past June with 6 people and we neglected to book in advance and for that number of people, it is challenging just to “drop in”. Since you are staying in Siena, I would recommend Castillo Ricasoli. This 1000 year old winery has delicious Chianti Classico. They also https://ricasoli.com/en/. They have a nice tour and tasting along with a restaurant.

If you want to stay in Siena, they have a Tuscan Wine School: https://www.tuscanwineschool.com.

The other option is to hire a driver to take you to visit some wineries. We stayed at Borgo Argentina and they recommended the following drivers that can take you on a tour of Tuscany. Note, we drove (my husband was the designated driver), so can’t give you first hand advice. However, the owner of our B&B Elena’s recommendations in other activities were excellent, so these may work for you.
