Family of 5 adult kids, looking for a farmhouse on a vineyard or something like that, with a pool, maybe cooking class and they sometimes cook for you, near Orvieto, for 3 nights. Any ideas? We are starting in Rome heading to Sorrento, could be that direction also. Thanks for your input!

Check out HomeAway website. We are spending a month in Todi, Umbria and rented home from their website. I have used website for rental in Cotswolds too. Great source, use filters to get exactly what you are looking for.

On our visit to Orvieto, we stayed at Rick's recommended Locanda Rosati- an Agriturismo in Orvieto. A lovely house, amazing food, a working Olive orchard, and a pool. It wouldn't be a house to yourself, but you might have trouble getting that for only 3 nights. Simply wonderful!

I second the recommendation of Locanda Rosati. We stayed there last May. Giampiero is a wonderful host.
Be sure to include time for his group dinner with a few other guests, its a great way to meet fellow travelers.

Rick's Italy book (pages 804-5) recommends several agritoursmi near Orvieto with most of the features you mention. Look at www.poggiodellavolara.it, as another example.
