We are in la spezia heard there is a strike Sunday - on the trenitalia website.

We have a train ticket purchased IC 35533, leaves 11:23 am. And prepaid reservations to enter the leaning tower of Pisa. How do I found out if our train is cancelled or not? I will have lots of other questions if it is cancelled.

I found a link that says train is cancelled. How do I proceed? Can we go anywhere that day, meaning are the regional trains to cinque terra cancelled? Can I get my Pisa tickets refunded to use on a different day? It is Friday night here and the strike happens tomorrow night. Will we be stuck in the cinque terra if we can't get a train back before 9 pm?

Your train is on the cancelled list. The three intercity trains before it appear not to be. You also could upgrade to Frecciabianca 9763. If you're in La Spezia now, go to the train station to confirm the plan. They should either exchange the ticket or confirm that you can use it on another service of the same type.

This is the summary that Rail Europe provided to agents:

We've been informed of strike action planned in Italy scheduled from 21:00 on Saturday 23 July to 21:00 on Sunday 24 July except for the regions of Veneto, Piedmont, Marche, Abruzzo, and Umbria.

  • All Le Frecce trains will circulate normally.
  • Long-distance train circulation will be subject to changes indicated (on a list).
  • Regional services are guaranteed from 06:00–09:00 and from 18:00–21:00.
  • Travel between Fiumicino and Rome Termini will be guaranteed either by Leonardo Express services or replacement bus services.

I have just solved our cancelled train. We are a 10 minute walk to the train station so I headed up and exchanged our tickets for a guaranteed train for 2.40 euro more. We were able to get help right before closing with a person who spoke some English. Very nice.

My train is not on the list. Can I trust that I can get to Genova from Levanto?
