We are in Italy now

My wife and I arrived at FCO from ATL on Delta this past Wednesday morning. We are fully vaccinated. I found several posts on this site that were helpful for me planning regarding travel restrictions. I would post our experience, but there are always so many replies that are not really pertinent to the specific topic. I always get answers to questions I didn't ask. So if anyone is wondering about the requirements or our experience at the airport, just reply to me personally regarding your question. :-)

frank, you could put it in the "Trip Reports" forum. Information is always good to share.

What stan said. Since you were helped by some of the posts here, please share what you experienced, to help others.

And it will be much easier for you to post your experiences once, than to answer an unknown number of private messages!

No, the flight was not full. I counted 8 people laying across the 5 center aisles.

My sister and I, both fully vaccinated, will be arriving in Milan on Sept 9, would love hear if the CDC card is good enough for entry to museums, trains, buses, and even restaurants. Have a great time, Frank.

It’s been made very clear by the Italian government and reports here that the CDC card is accepted at museums, restaurants etc

We were denied entrance to our first request to dine inside with the Vaccination card. But they did allow after scanning our PLF (Passenger Locator Form). Our friends that live hear say that just as in the states, some places are stricter than others - not all follow the same rules. The Italian government can state one thing...the proprietor really makes the final decisions. Some are stricter, some don't seem to care.

Frank
What is your itinerary- how many nights in Rome?
Restaurant suggestions?
Did you get tickets ahead for any sites?
Lines?
Thanks for the boots on ground info.

We are coming from USA via Zurich in Sept. What's the weather like? How should we pack?

We were turned away for inside seating at 2 restaurants today (with CDC cards). One in Montepulciano and one in Orvieto. But you can sit outside. The first museum will be in a few days.

Next month we are flying from ATL to Venice. This is our first international flight in 18 months.
At the ATL airport, did you have to show some Covid test results? PCR? Antigen?
Or, was the CDC vaccination card sufficient?
Did you have to physically show the card or the tests?
Or, was having a photo on phone sufficient ?

Thanks

We have a trip planned for late Sept-early October. Personally I only want to eat outside, with this Delta variant raging. But I’m picturing all the tables crammed together, and then if it’s raining…then what?! Any thoughts, Frank? Thanks for your experiences in real time—it’s quite helpful!!

I appreciate your updates, Frank_park, especially your status of being allowed (or not) into restaurants and museums with your CDC card.

Hope you’re having a wonderful time!

Sorry, I am only answering specific questions sent directly to me. We are eating outside everywhere, except today. We went into a cafe and no one asked to see anything. So far the CDC card has been of no use.

Today was the first time in 10 days that I was asked for my CDC card - to go into the Galleria Accademia in Firenze. But no passport or other foto i.d. was required (contrary to what I was told). Since my last post, we've been turned away from inside seating once more even with a Passport and CDC card. The PLF was only used once ( for inside seating at a restaurant in Termini).
