is the Happy hour at the Vatican Museum worth it?

We tried to buy tickets online for the Vatican Museums for mid-June and they're all sold out. However, they do have "Admission ticket with Happy Hour" available. Does anyone have any information about this option? We're willing to spend the money given that we may never get the chance to return to Rome, but if you know of other options for tickets, please share any insight. Thank you! ~Astrid

You have a couple of choices: with or without supper and wine. The light meal (salads, meats, cheeses and dessert) are really very good. In that same courtyard there will be live music from some very good groups (I've done this ticket 3 times). Without supper you can go directly into the museum with a whole lot of other people. When you are finished eating you can go into the museum with fewer people. Now, here's the trick: when you end up in the Sistine Chapel and the guards start asking people to leave - stay close to the guards. You still have a couple of long corridors to go through but you'll be at the back of the crowd so you'll be moving slower than people who just think "oh, it's time to go." It can take quite a while before you get to the staircase to the exit! The windows are all open and any cool breeze will be most welcome after a hot, humid day in Rome. I highly recommend this!
