I normally wing it with dining, but suspect it might be wise to make reservations where possible on my upcoming trip to these areas - I'll be staying in Varenna and Vernazza, respectively.
Does anybody have recommendations for mid-level restaurants with good placement near the water? I'm sober, so the wine list is not a factor.
Recommendations for Venice, Florence, and Siena would also be welcome. Thanks!
Bellagio, Lake Como- Walk south along the waterfront in Bellagio to Loppia for dinner at Ristorante Alle Darsene di Loppia. Some water views but set back a little. Wonderful restaurant! Bellagio has so many good restaurants which is one reason we always stay there rather than in Varenna.
Venice- on a canal,, Vini da Gigio,, a favorite.
In Vernazza, try La Torre, which is on the stairs going up to the hiking route between Vernazza and Corniglia. It is a bit of a hike up to the restaurant, but the views are out of this world. You will be glad you did. There are little spots to take a break on the way up to catch your breath. I would definitely make a reservation as the tables looking over the sea are usually booked.
