Water taxi from Marco Polo

We'll be arriving in Venice in mid September and although we would be happy taking the Alilaguna boat to our stop, the water taxi looks like it is faster, more comfortable and just more fun. For the two of us I hate to pop for the extra cost but if we can share with another couple or two that would make it much more affordable.
My question - is there a way to make arrangements at the dock to share a water taxi? We're traveling by ourselves and can't prearrange for another couple or two to ride with us but can travelers link up for a shared ride somehow?

One way is to stand at the baggage claim on top of a chair with a megaphone and start yelling at fellow passengers if there are others willing to share a water taxi to Venice to a pre-determined point (if you ask the water taxi to make multiple stops, each time there is an additional fare). I'm sure some volunteers will show up.

Another less loud way is to do something similar online on www.sharevenice.com.
Maybe there might be even more outfits offering similar shared arrangements.

So much for packing light if I have to bring my megaphone....

The experience of having your own water taxi far outweighs the cost! Stand outside at the back and feel the breeze and see the scenery with no one in your way! On your return to the airport - take a less expensive option.
