Water Taxi Availability - Rigata Storica

My wife and I will be first-time travelers to Venice this September. We booked an arrival on September 1 before we learned that it's the day of the Rigata Storica this year. We know they close the canal in the afternoon for that event. Our flight arrives in Marco Polo at 13:40 hours. Does anybody know whether we will have enough of a window of time to take a water taxi to our lodging (not far from Piazza San Marco) before the canal is closed to regular traffic? Would greatly appreciate any insights. Thanks, Patrick

The official website simply states it takes place "in the afternoon". I can only presume that the taxi driver will know a back way in from the north to get to your hotel. It will also depend on tide. The one and only time I've been on a water taxi is when I hitched a ride with a group going to La Fenice. The driver said he could not get all the way to La Fenice because it was low water and he had to drop us a short walk away.

To watch the taxi drivers navigate those back canals is amazing. They actually display a lot of talent in making those hairpin turns in a boat.
