Water in Trapani

Hello, in Rick's guide book on Sicily, he writes that it's not advisable to drink tap water in Trapani. Something to do with old pipes. I did a search on Google and it led me to a post in this forum, I think from last year, in which someone wrote that their hotel here had signs warning people not to drink the water.

I feel like this is probably a stupid question: will boiling the water make it drinkable, usable for cooking, etc.? I suppose this seems obvious to some people, I just get nervous when it comes to anything that could make me ill while on vacation. Would appreciate any yays or nays.

Yay, it doesn't seem to be an active threat for a traveler to worry about, you just shouldn't drink it.
Nay, the reason seems to be both micro-organisms and chemical pollution - boiling alone wouldn't change the chemical composition.
The water supply remains non potable due to lack of safe wells, according to this report from August.
