Was interested in info on Food tours in Rome

My husband and I are spending a couple of days in Rome on our Italy trip and wanted to ask if anyone has done and recommends a food tour? We are "foodies" and have read about them and don't know if we should or not!? I have read about EatItaly and Katy Parla's Rome. Are either of these good or any others that I have not heard of?
Thank you

I went on Eating Italy’s Twilight Trastavere tour and their Testaccio tour. I thought the tour and guides were excellent and recommend the experience without hesitation. The Trastavere tour was better, food wise. You absolutely get your fill with a wide variety of foods to try. If you can, do this at the beginning of your trip. You may want to revisit some of their stops, and apply some of your newfound culinary insight around Rome!

May 2015 I enjoyed a daytime food tour with Walks of Italy. It was a pleasant journey in a small 14-person group with guide to long-standing local Trastevere butchers, cheese markets with tastings at each finishing at a local trattoria where we were shown how the establishment makes its pizza so we each could make our own. Everything we tasted was deliciously excellent and shone with the inherent and impressive respect Romans have for their foodstuffs. Just peeked at their site and see they offer a dinner making tour which looks wonderful. Happy eating travels!

I, also, have enjoyed the Eating Italy Trastevere and Testaccio food tours. I did the daytime tour for both of them. They have a nice overview of food. Not sure what your definition of "foodie" is. If you are into gourmet, specialty stuff, these tours are not that. If you are in the "I want to eat traditional foods of the region", you'll be very happy. I was very full from both tours and very happy with the variety of tastes and the inside info from someone who lives in Rome leading the tour.

Another great option is either Elizabeth Minchilli or her daughter, Sophie Minchilli. Both do food tours and have lived in Rome for a long time - true locals. (some of the guides on the Eating Italy tours are from other places, however this in no way changed my enjoyment of those tours).

Here are the links to Elizabeth and Sophie

I follow Elizabeth's blog and Instagram and they are addictive and I have learned (and yearned) so much about Rome.

Have a great trip!

Just an add on for the recommendation for Eating Italy-please go hungry as you will have plenty of food and drinks. I'd call their tours multi course meal + walking tour + humorous anecdotes + good storytelling which = a lot of fun!

Are these tours good for solo female? I am looking at EatItaly Vatican. The tours look like a good way to meet people, share a meal and see neighborhoods.

I really enjoyed it as a single. Not really a good way to meet new friends as you are on the move all the time and don’t have a lot of time to sit and chat - I did Eat Italy’s Testaccio tour. Great way to see an off the beaten track part of Rome with an interesting history, eat some great food, visit a Roman market, eat some great food. I have not done the food tour of Trastevere but have read good things about it and Trastevere is another interesting area. Good food and history in one package - can’t go wrong there! Trastevere would be a good evening tour.
