Warm enough to swim in early October?

We are visiting Rapallo, Monterosso, and Cortona in a little over a week (Oct 2-8) and wondering if it is worth packing bathing suits?

A bikini won't take too much of your suitcase space. It's hard to predict the weather but as you get closer to your departure time check the forecast on wunderground.com.

Hi, I've been in Corciano for the past ten days. The mornings and evenings have been too chilly to use the villa's pool but the days have been sunny and warm and we could have used it if we stayed home and stopped touring. Be sure to take sweaters or light jackets for when the sun goes down. More than once we've been caught on a restaurant's patio with leisurely service into the evening and just about froze. lori

We visited Monterosso in October. The ocean water was much too cold for anything more than a wade up to the ankles (even for our kids). The days were nice with cool evenings. I always pack something for swimming (for me a pair of swim trunks with pockets that can be worn as shorts) even if I don't plan to swim - just to have flexibility in my bag.
