Thanks for all who responded to my initial question about a parking ticket I received 12 years ago in Sienna. However, I'm afraid I was not clear with my question. I was on my way to the airport in Rome and decided to make a last stop in Sienna before leaving Italy. I wanted to attend a flower festival. Unfortunately, I received a parking ticket (parked in a wrong area). At that point, I either had to make my flight or pay the ticket. I chose the flight with a semi-understanding that the ticket would eventually be paid by my credit card used at my car rental agency.
A few months after I returned home, I received a certified letter from Sienna with an administration charge against my credit card. I assumed that it was notifying me that the ticket was paid by my credit card since it was the last communication I received from Sienna. There were no other certified letters sent to my address...an address that I had for 20 years.
Now I understand that the charge against my card was only an administrative fee to the car rental agency for retrieval of my address.
I also understand that a responder spotted my name on a wanted list in Rome immigration. Seems a little harsh for a 12-year-old ticket for someone who lives a more than boring life, but stranger things have happened.
I'll call the Italian Consulate in Houston this coming week to see if there is something I can do to clear the issue. Otherwise, if any of you have any further information to share, I would surely appreciate it.
