Walks of Italy Refunds -- Update

Hi all,

I had booked a total of four Walks of Italy tours, three in Rome and one in Paris. The one in Paris was by far the most expensive, since I purchased for 12 people a tour that was pretty pricey to begin with. Before I even requested the refunds, I was issued vouchers for 125% of the amount paid, to be used within three years. Because the Mt. St. Michel tour was purchased with some friends, I pursued a refund for that particular tour and decided to keep the vouchers for the rest. To do this, I had to take advantage of the "chat" feature on their website. I started browsing their tours, and when the chat came up, I jumped on it and discussed the topic with the agent (I had tried the email route to no avail). This was in May. Our tour was set to happen 2 days from now. Today I got an email from Walks of Italy saying that my refund had been processed and credited to my CC and that should I receive the money (totaling $2522.00) in the next 5-7 days. They included a screenshot of the transaction.

I know many people on this site were frustrated with them, so I wanted to share. Don't loose hope. I will update when I see the money in my account.

Thank you tmalave for posting this. I am with a gazillion other people trying to get monies back from various companies. I'm a little over 50% whole now at this point in time, of a over $30k once in a life time trip I planned over two years. I'm making a list of those companies that have acted honorably, and a short list of those that didn't, specifically for me. But I am paying attention to others' experiences too for hopeful future travel. I'll be posting my list at some point. I was going to be on a trip to Italy for the month of May 2020, which included the airfare, lodging, a cruise, and a land tour in Italy, when things started unraveling in February 2020. Now it will be 2021 at the earliest, but more than likely 2022 if we can get a vaccination, and countries are open to tourists visiting them from the US. I had heard nothing but positive things about WOI up until COVID-19. And with all that I've read until your post, was about to write them off for future travel. Thanks to your post, I will consider them, for when we are able to travel again!

I also received the 125% voucher. I wonder if their prices will increase 25%, so it will just be an even exchange when rebooking.

Thanks for sharing a good experience. I like reading these a lot better than reading the other type.

So glad you received your refund!! I was originally promised one and then they reneged. Forced to accept voucher I will never use.

My amount of money was far smaller than yours so if only one of us was going to get a refund, I am glad it was you!

Carol, did you ask them if you could sell your voucher since you’ll never be able to use it AND they originally promised a refund?

Hello,
My experience with Italy reimbursement has been great. I received all deposits from Rick Steve’s tours, and United airlines plane tickets. Those were the big ticket items. I even volunteered to refund the cost for Aquamarina tours in Cinque Terre but they insisted on giving a refund (please book them- they are wonderful) I got a year voucher from my travel insurance company Travel Guard. I still haven’t heard back from Walks of Italy- wrote them about 3
Months ago but as a small time business operator and only booked a single tour for 4 people- willing to give it a wash. My vrbo experience in Milan was great- she refunded the same day. Hope you all have similar experiences. I must say- after 3 months haven’t heard back from “Walks of Italy” tour group. May we all be able to travel soon!

Lisa, instead of just filling out the form on their website , you need to directly email Walks of Italy. I heard back within days.

I received a full refund back from Allianz.

Lulu348, The Colosseum Night tour was approximately $74 this year. Looking at the rate for the 2021 summer it is $99.
