walking tours of rome

I will be in Rome in June and I am interested in taking one or two guided walking tours. I am thinking probably the Vatican/St Peter's and Ancient Rome. Does anyone have suggestions as to which tour company to use?
thanks, Kathy

Kathy, I did two Context Rome tours in the same day a couple weeks ago. Both walking tours were excellent.

ROMA ANTICA - 3 hour tour of Palatine Hill, Forum, Colosseum tour.

ARTE VATICAN (WITH RESERVATIONS)- 4 hours, Vatican Museum and St. Peters.

Besides the tour guides being very knowledgable and passionate about the sites, I really, really liked the intimacy of the 4-6 person groups.

Kathy,

You might also consider Francesca Caruso (she's listed in the Guidebook). Her tours are excellent!

Cheers!

We directly booked a tour of the Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel through the official vatican website. The tour was 2 hours and ended at St. Peter's so you could go in there. We paid around 30E per person, and that included admission. I thought it was a good deal and I enjoyed the tour.

Angel Tours has a walking tour called the Heart of Rome Tour that meets at the Spanish Steps at 6 pm and ends at Campo di Fiori. The tour includes Trevi Fountain, Pantheon and Piazza Navona as well as many other sites along the way and was a wonderful tour. We did the tour our first evening in Rome and was a great way to get our "bearings" in the city. Angel Tours also has a fantastic Vatican Tour. I highly recommend them - very informative and a lot of fun!

My daughter and I will arrive in Rome June 6 and need to know if it is best to book these walking tours in advance, or can you sign on the day of the tours?

Thanks
