Three friends and I will be in Florence as a part of a two week trip( three days in Rome, train to CT for four nights, and five night in Florence). I have visited Florence twice. The last trip was ten years ago. They are all first timers to Italy. They only want to do limited museums. I'm thinking that they will enjoy walking tours in Florence. Need suggestions for routes to take. We are staying in the Santa Croce area. I'm planning day trips out of the city. Train to Lucca and buses to a couple of hill towns. Thanks
Rick Steves has a walking tour in his guidebook for Florence. Have you looked over that?
I did a Walks Of Italy florence walking tour that included only the Accedemia (so one museum) and i enjoyed it. I loved our guide that we had for the tour.
Thanks for the info.
Rick's Renaissance Walk plan is also available to download as an Audio Tour. The other side of the river, Oltrarno, is another fun place to explore.
I used Dark Rome for a 3 hour tour of Florence, and thought they were very good, and price was great, too. I also used them for a tour of the Uffizi, which was well worth it. The fee covered the museum entrance, and we were free to tour the museum on our own when the tour ended.
Thanks Teri, this site is helpful .
