Thanks, everyone, in advance for your advice. I’m trying to plan a 5-7 day walking tour of the amalfi coast. I want to stay in towns that aren’t as touristy and do a luggage transfer front one to the next boutique hotel. I can’t decide if I want to pay for a self guided tour company or plan it myself. Any help is appreciated
What month? (it matters for transport advice and such)
You can definitely plan this yourself, but unless you just especially want to experience different villages in the evening, you can easily stay in one place and do day hikes. I would choose two bases if I were doing this--one closer to the mainland end and one further out. I loved Cetara.
The two books of hikes, published by Sunflower and Cicerone, may be helpful.
Self guided tour with a reputable company for sure. If something goes wrong, they will sort it out rather than you having to spend your vacation time doing it.
We did the TMB with Macs a couple of years ago and one of the hotel owners mentioned that they were the most reliable company that they worked with. Highly recommend them even if they are about 30% more expensive than booking on your own.
