In Google maps, add individual destinations points on the map with the direction option. Ensure that you click the little walking man. Google map will create step by step directions with the total time and distance. Also you can zoom in on your map looking for interesting points along the way. In the create mode you can drag the path over to other streets and even paths as long as path is shown within the map. There is a limit as far as how points you can use in one map. The limit is 10 points for end to end directions. Also there is a limit as far as how many times you can revise the route. Not sure about how many times Google map will allow. Once you hit the number, no more changes can be performed.

Also, right click the link in the address bar. Copy the link on a Word file. I usally type out a daily itinerary for my trips and store on Google Drive, iCloud or Microsoft One Cloud. While in location with internet access, I open up the file, click the lnk which indicates to 'Send to Cell Phone'. The link is sent to you as a text message. When your ready to start you you walk, click the link in the text message. The link launches Google Maps with a step by step map providing directions for your walk. If I have several walks planned for the day. I send a text message for each map. It's great. I create driving/walking maps for every trip. If I plan to use public transportation. I create another map for that public transportation route. Google Maps will show times for the stops.
