I am refining my original question a few hours ago about best hilltop towns to visit. I am solo female traveler and I would like to construct a self guided walking tour in the hilltop towns. Are any close enough together to walk from one to another? If I had to choose 2 bases and walk daily what you recommend? Not too touristy please! Montulpciano? Siena? Voltera? I realize taking a bus may be necessary but would rather spend time walking.
