Walking down from Piazzalo Michelangelo

How easy is it to walk down from the parking lot at Piazzale Michangelo to the Arno? We are used to walking long distances but I'm wondering if it's safe, ie is there a path?

WE walked up to and down from San Miniato church, above there, and walked past Piazza Michaelangelo but didn't go in. There was a path most of the way, or good safe sidewalk. You could easily find it from the Piazza. We did have to cross the street a few times but there were crosswalks. It was a nice walk.

The path goes past a refuge for cats. If you can figure out who arranged this and cares for the cats, I'd love to know!

Easy walk down, but take a bus or taxi up!! (But I'm old..!) Certainly safe! Best view of Florence ever! Go for the sunset and have a nice glass of over-priced wine (who cares!) and enjoy the fabulous view! If you haven't done this, you've missed Florence.

We walked up and down it. As you might imagine down is easier! We went from the Ponte Vecchio up and and down another bridge (don't remember the name) and visited the church of Santa Croce. Many famous tombs in that church including Michaelangelo.

It is beautiful at sunset. There is a small outdoor cafe just below the rim of the piazza. It's not easy to see. Nice views from there. I wish we had walked down just to get to experience this beautiful area a little slower than the bus went.

We walked up to Piazzalo Michelangelo after the Ufizzi. I took some nice pictures of the river and Florence. We were there at dusk and I think the pictures turned out better in that light than the middle of the day. In fact, we had one put on a 20 X 30 canvas and it is in our dining room. Aftrerwards we walked down for dinner at Trattoria Quattro Leoni and we enjoyed that neighborhood restaurant. Seemed safe area for us. Have fun!
