we want to walk the 5 towns and stay overnight in one. However, what can we do with our luggage before we begin? Are there lockers in the train station in La Spezia...or is there anywhere to leave luggage for a few days?

miriam, I'd suggest checking into your Hotel and THEN hiking. That will solve the problem of luggage storage. I'm not clear why you would need to leave your luggage somewhere for a few days, if you're staying there??? One note regarding the Sentiero Azurro hiking trails. At the present time ONLY the Monterosso-Vernazza and Riomaggiore-Manarola trails are open, so you won't be able to "walk the 5 towns". This may change as in the near future, but that's the current status. There are other trails that run further up into the hills, but those are more difficult and will take longer. Happy travels!
