walking and travel from Amalfi

I am enjoying a week on the Amalfi coast with friends. I'm planning to walk the Path of the Gods. Are there any other fine walks within a day. Also, has anyone rented a private boat for a day and how was that. I have Pompeii and Capri and other towns planned but any special little paths?

there are lots of options.
if you are near the town of amalfi or ravello, and like walking down lots of steps, there is a nice short walk down from ravello back down to the water. beautiful scenery all the way down. catch the local bus up to ravello.
capri has some nice walks around various parts of the island that leave from the main town
hope this helps

We did the walk from Ravello to Atrani (where we were staying)...it was beautiful, but we went right after lunch (in Sept - still hot). Should have either went earlier or later. Make sure to take some water with you, and take your time. I'm not unused to walking - I walk my dog lots - but by the time we got to the bottom of the walk, my lower legs were trembling - which was a first for me!

It's not comparable, but if you were in Sant'Agata sui Due Golfi for the view or the monastery, there is a lovely 99% PAVED walk, 100% downhill, to Sorrento. This is especially good for people with small limitations on their walking, but you need shoes that are good for constant downhill slopes. It is very quiet and has many good views, but it is not even remotely, "rural". Takes about 1 1/2 hours. SITA bus from in front of the Sorrento Circumvesuviana station. It's tricky to find the departure stairs in Sant'Agata. Google Maps can help.

There are many recommended walks. If you have an opportunity to look at "Landscapes of Sorrento, Amalfi and Capri" by Julian Tippett, you would enjoy it. Walking between Minori and Maiori is one possibility. "Valley of the Mills" walk up the river from Amalfi is lovely through the woods. You can walk from Atrani to Minori. It really depends upon where you're staying (the book also covers walk segments in the Positano/Praiano area, the Sorrento area and on Capri).
