I just went to purchase tickets to the Opera in Verona. They are playing Aida on the night that we will be there. There is an option to have the tickets mailed to my home in Massachusetts, but that will cost 25 euros. As much as one ticket. The other option is to have them mailed to a local post office as registered mail. I wouldn't even know where to begin with that. Does anyone know if you can regularly by 2 tickets for the cheap seats on the day of the show or do they usually sell out?
Thanks, Greg
Can you not have the tickets mailed to your hotel in Verona?
You are very lucky to have landed tickets. The odds of walking up on the day and getting tickets are poor. You might get them from touts on the day for much more than face value. OTOH, good luck with the Italian post office. EDIT: Ooooh, I like Norma's idea. Maybe your hotel could even collect them for you so they don't get stuck in the post office. If you get second thoughts, I'll go in your place. I haven't seen Aida since about 1969 or 1970, at the Met.
I bought tickets online two years ago and had them held for pickup day of performance. We walked into the ticket office with the confirmation number from the email and had tickets in hand 5 minutes later. Was there no pickup day-of option on your purchase screen? Were you buying from the official site or a ticket reseller? I'll look tonight to see the link I used and post again.
We did the same as Nelly- bought the tickets online and picked them up there the day of the performance.
Here's the link, and it definitely says you can pick up tickets on the day of performance: http://www.arena.it/en-US/HOMEen.html . Good luck, hope this helps.
Ok. Thank you for the correct link. I had been looking at this site: http://ticketmi.com/ They must be a ticket reseller and they come up first under google searches. They do not offer a pick up the tickets at the opera box office option. You can pick up the tickets free of charge in Milan, which is not very convenient to the opera in Verona:) They also charge a 25 euro fee to ship the tickets to the states. I wouldn't recommend ticketmi! Thank you for your help everyone!
