walk itineray from Termini

My son has an afternoon/overnight layover in Rome, staying near the Termini for quick access to/from FCO airport. Can anyone suggest a good walking itineray for him that would end at a good Roma-style restaurant that has outdoor seating? Thanks!

Hi, Carlyn. Your son should plan on visiting the Colosseum, the Forum, and the Palatine Hill. These sites are next to each other and can be quickly accessed by walking down Via Cavour from Termini Station. If he has any time remaining before sunset, he could visit the National Museum of Rome, which is also near Termini. For a restaurant, he could try Messengio (I think that's the correct spelling), which is at the end of Via Cavour closest to the ruins. He could also get a gelato at any of the many Gelato shops on Via Cavour. That itinerary is what I would do if I had limited time in Rome. Hope this helps! ~Joseph~

Thanks for your reply Joseph...I see you're down in Harlingen. It's really hot and humid up here in SA. How does this weather compare to Rome in late July?

Hi, Carlyn. Keep in mind that Texas is roughly the same latitude as the Mediterranean Sea, so the weather in Texas and Italy will be roughly the same for July. Italy is likely a smidge cooler, but the intense sun won't make it feel that way. Hope that helps! ~Joseph~
