Looking for a relaxing one week-plus resort stay for fall 2026. coming from NYC.
I know Salina and love it but Vulcano would be new to us....
We can fly into Catania and go to Milazzo for the ferry.
How is the swimming off Vulcano? (I do not care about the smell)
Any comments would be much appreciated.....
Caveat: my visit was at least 15 years ago. I remember taking the ferry from Lipari for a day trip. I don't know about resorts, we wandered on foot around the port area
The sulfurous fumes were very strong, and definitely remained in our clothes. (Even after getting home and repeated washings my sarong wrap retained a hint!)
It was fascinating and other worldly to walk through the steaming mud and little bubbling pools. I still have a piece of pumice found just floating in the water.
It would be a memorable trip, for sure!
