Volterra & Siena

Hi all, For the majority of our trip to Italy, we plan on staying in each city for 2-3 days (in Rome for 4). There's only one part of our trip that's not like the others: the Hill Towns in Tuscany! In between visiting Florence and Rome we'd like to spend one night each in Volterra and Siena. We would arrive in each town around 3pm, and depart the following day at 1pm. For Volterra, this seems like enough time since its a tiny town, but I wonder if we should skip Volterra entirely in favor of Siena, since it's a larger city, and might deserve more time? Any advice you can offer would be most welcome. Thanks so much! kate

Both deserve more time. Volterra at least a full day with an evening and Siena, a good two days. Also, San Gimignano is close by as well. But, your agenda is what you make it. There is bus transportation between the three towns.
