We only have one afternoon to spend in Volterra, and it will be on a Sunday. Will any of the alabaster shops be open? Any good restaurant recommendations?

All of the alabaster shops will be open on Sunday. No joke: the regional prison--an imposing presence in Volterra--has embarked on a program to train inmate chefs. Fine dining is available within the prison walls. Park your car at the car park just as you drive into town and walk.
